The Medieval Jousts – Pendennis Castle

We’ve taken a step back in time this month and headed to Pendennis Castle for the annual medieval jousts.

Whether you’re watching the brave knights duel on horseback for honor, laughing til your sides hurt with the jester, or watching the birds of prey swoop and dive in the spectacular falconry display, the Pendennis jousts have something for the whole family to enjoy.

Grand Medieval Joust (15) 600

I popped down to experience the pageantry for myself, and was so glad I did. I cheered on my chosen knight (who sadly did not win), learnt lots of gruesome and gory facts from the medieval executioner, took a look around the castle itself, and of course took in the breath taking views across Falmouth Bay that Pendennis has to offer – what’s not to like!

Budding young knights can even test out their skills in the training school, but unfortunately I was a bit out of the age category to have a go myself!

And finally, what better way to finish off the day than with an ice cream from our lovely scoopers at our very own Callestick van – Perfect!

The jousts are on for one last week – Tuesday August 19th and Wednesday August 20th – so get there while you can!
